Demand CDPH Update their Guidelines to Allow Full Time School in California!
Why this petition matters
WE MUST DEMAND CALIFORNIA OPEN SCHOOLS FULL TIME! THE CDPH MUST CHANGE THE GUIDANCE TO ALLOW!
California Department of Public Health (CDPH) current requirement is all classrooms must have 6 feet of distance between desks.
We are asking the CDPH to change criteria to more reasonable and CDC Director and WHO recommendation of 3 Feet or less for physical desks.
Many States are getting the message and passing rules allowing for 3 feet or less of spacing in schools. Now that majority of teachers are vaccinated and other safety measures are already implemented in all schools masks, hand-washing, and plexiglass barriers we need CDPH to review and update the criteria.
Updated 3/19/2021: CDC update to 3 feet distancing guideline
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revised its guidelines for schools Friday, saying three feet of distance between students is sufficient for all elementary and many middle and high schools, a change that lays the groundwork for districts to reopen full-time for in-person classes.
We now must Demand that CDPH update their guildline to follow the CDC to allow Full time School!
Updated 3/14/2021: Fauci confirms on CNN that changes to CDC 6-ft rule on the way soon!
“What the CDC wants to do is they want to accumulate data & when the data shows there is an ability to be 3 ft they will act accordingly … It’s going to come & it’s going to come soon.“ More Info
Updated 2/26/2021: CA Safe School Guidance:
“If 6 feet of distance is not possible after a good-faith effort has been made, then under no circumstances should distance between student chairs be less than 4 feet.“ Sadly this is still not working for most schools due to limited physical size of classrooms.
Main Support:
- Rochelle Walensky, the new director of the CDC at Harvard Medical School and the chief of infectious diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital told the mayor of her town that in schools “if people are masked it is quite safe and much more practical to be at three feet.”
- World Health Organization marks one meter (approximately three feet) for distancing in its school guidance.
- MA recent study conclusion was no substantial difference in cases among students or staff with three feet versus six feet of distance.
