Why this petition matters

Started by James Bicknell

So, nearly every Pokémon fan loves the idea of fangames, right? Well, we all know that Game Freak usually issues cease and desists when there are attempts to make them.  What if we could convince Game Freak that there is a great business opportunity in a game like Mario Maker, but for Pokémon? We don't have to stop there, as I think that if they would buy out or hire the paheal guys who made the fusion generator and fakemon creator, they could make this "Pokemaker" be something extraordinary. You wouldn't have to be an artist or programmer to make your own Pokémon game/region with its own fakemon, as even a child could mess with it and create something cool. I especially like the idea of adding a crossbreeding and/or fusion mechanic as a sort of hook for consumers beyond just making your own Pokémon game or fakemon. Ideally, you could choose between literal fusion and crossbreeding in the settings. It would be really nice if there were RPG Maker level editing, if a bit more basic.

Here are some of my other thoughts:

1. An array of editors, for things like badges, trainers, overworld tiles, general pixel art, etc. Ideally, you could import pixel art for fakemon images outside of the game.

2. A wide selection of Pokémon music to use and listen to.

3. Online sharing of regions, fakemon, and assets, as well as multiplayer battling using your created fakemon.

4. Tons of option settings, such as choosing between HMs or HM item replacements.

5. Mario Maker-like graphic settings, swapping between Gameboy and Gameboy Advance graphics. Gameboy graphics can enable the ability to represent fakemon/hybrids with the Pokémon neutral sprites which I think could be based on egg groups or Pokedex body types.

Together, with enough signatures, perhaps we can convince Game Freak it would be worth it. I know, Nintendo is listed as the decision maker for this petition, but Game Freak wasn't an option in the selection.
