Call on Felicity Buchan, MP for Kensington to vote for the Alf Dubs Amendment
Call on Felicity Buchan, MP for Kensington to vote for the Alf Dubs Amendment
Why this petition matters
If the Lords vote for the Dubs Amendment next week, MPs still need to approve it. There could be another vote on the Dubs Amendment in parliament very soon.
We the undersigned Kensington Residents, call on Felicity Buchan, MP for Kensington, to vote for the Alf Dubs Amendment bill: To protect family reunion for child refugees.
Why
In 2017, children who live in Kensington helped deliver a petition signed by about 50,000 people to Downing Street supporting Alf Dubs Amendment to the Brexit bill, that would have permitted unaccompanied child refugees to be reunited with family members after Brexit.
Kensington residents who helped campaign for the bill are dismayed at the news that Boris Johnson's government recently voted against the amendment, which had been accepted by the previous Conservative government.
"It is a betrayal of Britain's humanitarian tradition and will leave children who are very vulnerable existing in danger in northern France and in the Greek islands,"
Alf Dubs
