Instead of whitewashing characters that were Roma in comic books, Marvel should show a Romani character portrayed by a Romani actor or actress with help from a Romani writer.

Hollywood has either painted Roma in a negative light or has shown Roma as mythical creatures. Hollywood often the slur "gyspy' to depict them and doesn't treat Roma as real humans. 

This has done damage. Real people suffer because this erases them. Roma are often overlooked and discrimination is often dismissed because people don't recognize Roma as an ethnic group. Counted institutionalized discrimination and decades of persecution is ignored.   

Roma is a real ethnicity and Roma should be represented. 

The Marvel writers and producers have attempted to make their universe more diverse in many ways but whitewashed characters previously depicted at Roma (Wanda Maximoff, Pietro Maximoff, and Doctor Doom.) Marvel has largely Ignored this minority group. 

They should support the Roma community by displaying a positive role model. If done with help from the Romani community this could help an entire group of people. This would help to undo some of the negative stereotypes. This would help bring light to a whole ethnic group that has largely been erased. And Romani children could finally see someone like them on the screen.
