Let's stop the practice of reading a whole book then returning for a refund
Why this petition matters
As authors in the indie community, we have noticed an increased trend of readers purchasing our e-books, reading them, then returning them for a refund. This is stealing from the authors, as there are times when those returns cause the author to "owe" Amazon.
Every e-book has a "look inside" feature that provides the reader with approximately 10% of the book for a reader to see whether or not that author/book is for them.
We know that people purchase things by mistake and aren't talking about those instances because they happen to everyone. But if Amazon can count the number of pages for KU which authors see on their KDP reports, why can't they determine that a reader has read more than 50% of a book and disallow a refund?
They previously had a policy like this but now allow up to two weeks from date of purchase for people to return for a refund which is site-wide. This hurts indie authors' bottom line every single month and needs to stop!
