The Cashel Community Enhancement Group are launching an online petition to ask Mayo County Council and the Department of Transport to review and make good the road entering the village of Cashel, Achill Island, County Mayo.

The problem area is a stretch of road on the R319 between the L5443 to Saula and the L1405 to Dooega. These particular locations have been identified as problematic for traffic as the road is narrow and uneven and the bridges are on a curve in the road. The picture above shows a tree growing out of the centre of one of these bridges.  

The road and bridges within this problem area need to be surveyed and an upgrade of the area is required urgently.

This stretch of road needs urgent attention. We are asking the Achill community, suppliers to Achill, visitors to Achill and the Mayo diaspora to get behind the call for action. Mayo County Council please make this a priority not a maybe.
