i met a girl on wattpad in late 2016, our friendship flourished and we became very close - but as time went on, she became toxic, and very rude to me. i’ve decided to mute her on wattpad.

lets just say, i was harrassed until the girl deleted her account due to people finding out. i recived threats and etc etc etc, to the point where i almost gave up on writing in order to stay safe. then i realized that there was a flaw.

when you mute someone, you can still read their books, look at their conversations, and shade them, make them feel terrible on the other side, if the person were to ever encounter their account and see all the awful things they wrote about them.

i want wattpad to add a block button, where the person cannot see your account, they can’t communicate with you, they can’t read things or mention you. wattpad is lacking when it comes to protecting users from hate. whether it’s petty things to harassment and homophobia/racism/sexism/ and more.

i also want to propose that wattpad should be more effective with reporting account that promote hate. it literally costs people’s lives. hate accounts are a big problem on wattpad.

i almost put my life on the line because of my situation, i struggle with depression and i almost gave in before finding hope, knowing i was good for something, and that could be making this petition to protect others from the things i went through. 

not ever again.
