Fight against actions, not against words.
Fight against actions, not against words.
Why this petition matters
From Wikipedia: "In computing, Blacklist is a term for a list of items that their access to something is denied. The opposite term is a whitelist, which means only items on the list are let through whatever gate is being used".
On June 14th 2020, due to the BLM protests around the globe, GitHub announced that they will change the terms "Blacklist" & "Whitelist" to "Blocklist" and "Allowlist".
I think it's time to stop playing with semantics and make companies like GitHub, Google, and Microsoft to do more than some changes in words. White people will do nothing to improve black people's lives besides changing historic terms like Black Monday to The-Not-So-Good-Monday. Because that's the easy solution for them, and it's a solution that changes nothing. It's time to demand more than that.
Let's make them take some real actions. #savetheblacklists
