Faith and Justice
Faith and Justice
Why this petition matters
In our desire to stand for Faith and Justice we now know that silence in the matters of injustice is an act of complicity. As people of Faith, we renounce the systems of racism in our laws that have perpetrated police brutality, mass incarceration and in too many cases, the death of people of color. We repent Lord, of the sin of blindness and complacency. As people of Faith from all races, we stand in solidarity in addressing the need for justice reform. May God grant us unity as we exercise our Faith in the name of the Church of Jesus Christ. Amen.
The following petition is a covenant to advocate for reform in the areas outlined. We will do this by having intentional conversations with our community, City Government, Police Departments and our Churches, to bring about workable best practices that can be put in place to bring about safer systems of justice.
Here are some of the action items we would like to discuss.
- Band chokeholds and strangleholds
- Re-quire De-scalation
- Require warning before shooting
- Exhaust all alternatives before shooting
- Duty to intervene
- Ban shooting at moving vehicles
- Require use of force continuum
- Require comprehensive reporting
