June 19, also known as Juneteenth, is the day African-Americans gained independence in 1865. However Juneteenth is only recognized in some states, and is not considered a national holiday and it deserves to be. If they have fourth of July, which is the independence day for America, Juneteenth definitely deserves to be one! I am bringing awareness to the matter at hands and challenge congress to make this a national holiday! We as African-Americans deserve to celebrate our independence from the bondage of slavery!
