Taiwanese children Shouldn't be counted as Chinese in College
Taiwanese children Shouldn't be counted as Chinese in College
Why this petition matters
As a parent of a high school student, I started to use Coalition as a college application tool. It is a good tool and functionally outstanding.
But when I was asked my place of birth. I was forced to choose Taiwan, Province of China without any other alternative. This will affect all Taiwanese American family.
We, as US citizen, own US passport which carries Taiwan as our nationality. Having Taiwan as our nationality is US policy. Therefore, I strongly recommend Coalition, as a leading educational service organization, that you should please remove the non-existing province of China and put Taiwan back to place. Taiwan is the only option as the nationality for Taiwanese people and the place of birth for Taiwanese immigrants to US.
The classification for the place of birth will affect the rights of the college applicants because some university may use it to balance the admission among the racial groups. Thus, it may adversely affect the admission results for applicants with Taiwanese parents.
Please make the correction.
