READ THE FULL OPEN LETTER TO PYLUSD HERE.

In light of the recent murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and all other lives lost to state-sanctioned violence, we call upon the Placentia-Yorba Linda School District (PYLUSD) to implement a more comprehensive curriculum on the histories of the the Black community, indigenous communities, and all other communities of color.

While we recognize the privileges of the education we have received from PYLUSD, we must also acknowledge that the curriculum did not adequately prepare us for college coursework and general discourse in the world we entered after graduation. The current curriculum has failed to teach students about the systemic injustices in America and their disproportionate effects on the aforementioned communities.

In the open letter attached to PYLUSD, we provide reasonings for this call, potential resources, and a concrete list of actions that we would like PYLUSD to undertake in order to reform the current curriculum. We firmly believe that PYLUSD must reform its curriculum to adequately prepare its students for the current state of academia.

Members of the PYLUSD community, we urge you to sign this petition and share it with others. This letter was modeled after the petition to Glendale Unified School District.
