Why this petition matters

Started by Paula Frost

Black people are a huge part of British culture and history. They deserve to be represented visibly and properly with a Black History Museum in London, England's capital. London has over 250 museums covering subjects as far reaching as fans, brands and cartoons and it is quite scandalous that there is not one dedicate to black people.

From the hard working immigrants of the Windrush generation (and many other generations) to the modern day sporting heroes and the musicians who shaped the sound of British music today, we shouldn't stand by another day without giving these people the credit they deserve. We owe it to younger generations who ought to know about black people’s struggles, as well as their triumphs across sport, music, art, politics, and every other subject.

Let’s come together, black, white and all races and shine a light on the history of black people in Britain. It's an amazing story that should be told. Its impact will undoubtedly bring more unity, inclusivity and understanding to the hearts and minds of visitors and the nation.
