Why this petition matters

Started by Alexis Gonzalez

On April 22nd, Army Private First Class Vanessa Guillen was called into the armory where she worked and was never see again. Months passed by and no real effort was produced by her unit or Chain of Command to find her. On June 30, 2020 her remains were discovered near the Leon River in Texas, covered in concrete in an effort to conceal her identity. This young woman, who had dreamed of bettering herself and her country, DIED because she spoke out against her superiors who were using their ill-appointed authority to sexually harass her. She and her family need TRUE justice, which means thoroughly examining and punishing everyone who was involved in her death-meaning all of them should be demoted to the lowest possible rank, stripped of their benefits and dishonorably discharged. How is it a base is locked down when a rifle or another piece of equipment goes missing, but an entire human being-someone’s daughter, sister, aunt or friend-vanishes and not a single alarm is raised? Vanessa deserves peace with her justice and it needs to be swift. Please sign today...because if it was your friend or loved one, would you not want the same?
