The Richmond Football Club are redeveloping the Punt Rd Oval precinct. The Jack Dyer Stand will be no more. 

Whilst we are supporting the need to update. It is not a necessary process, we are signing this petition in favour of including the now dismantled Museum and saving our history by not demolishing the Jack Dyer Stand. We also do not agree with the proposed name of the new centre- The William Cooper centre means nothing to Richmond Football Club people and is in favour of nothing of any historical club value. 

The last communication from the RFC on the museum was that it was to be incorporated into the redevelopment via the David Mandie building on level 2. As the development continues to evolve no firm word on the museum, its relocation or plans thereof have been made public. We wish to ensure that this important piece of the clubs history and culture are preserved. 

We believe members, past players and officials of the RFC should have been considered and properly consulted when it was decided that the Museum was not to be central to the development. 
The Jack Dyer Stand should have been properly debated by the members and is a tragedy that the building with a heritage significance to Richmond supporters will just be knocked over and no attempt will be made to replace in any shape or form. 

The name of the new centre does not reflect the Richmond Football Club in any way and makes little sense culturally and historically. 

The proud history of the club is so important to all members old and young. Past Players have donated jumpers, families have donated valuable memorabilia and the past curators and volunteers worked hard to establish the Museum and are disappointed to see what is occurring. 

The Museum is so important for children and families to learn about the clubs history and interstate visitors and all tiger fans would like the option of seeing in person the splendid items that were on display.

We believe the area could have timely exhibitions of different eras incorporating past players who may host tours of this important establishment. It could be exciting and fun. It could be historically and culturally significant as this is the clubs past. Future generations the club owes it to educate and inform of Richmond’s ups and downs. 

This could create another vital business and learning hub for all supporters and the general public alike to be able to view this important piece of Richmond’s history. This should be paramount in any planning regarding the new development. 

We think the decision to not entertain serious discussion and major options regarding the museum with supporters is arrogant, self serving and doesn’t make good sense. It’s unfortunate for those who have worked so hard to establish what was existing over the years and spent money to acquire prized items such as Stan Judkins Brownlow Medal. This, the first of Richmond’s Brownlows Medals (1930) pictured in the old museum in 2015. 

As followers of the RFC we ask you to re think the importance of a stronger and bolder museum and Jack Dyer Stand, for the sake of history and culture at any planning stage and that Richmond supporters, their families and the greater Richmond community are properly consulted regarding all ideas and plans.
