The covid19 outbreak has worsened. Experts now acknowledge that universal mandatory masks could help prevent the spread of asymptomatic carriers — many of whom might not even know they’re sick — from inadvertently infecting other people. Prioritizing the essential gear to health care workers is obvious. However, people can make cloth masks until we have enough for everyone. The collective evidence makes a strong case for universal mask wearing during a pandemic. Even if a mask is not 100 percent sealed, it is still a significant reduction in risk of transmission.
