Traffic in Wembury has steadily been increasing over the years to the point where the general road infrastructure and speed limits are not fit for purpose.

The speed that vehicles travel is in many cases well in excess of the 30mph speed limit in the village. This is accentuated by the hills in the village and the apparent need to get to the beach as quickly as possible. 

The time has come for action. I propose that the speed limit is reduced to 20 mph in the whole village and in addition, traffic calming measures be looked at in other safety hotspots, for example the main beach route via Mewstone Avenue and in the vicinity of the school. 

The benefits for everyone are tangible. Reduced noise pollution, increased safety and a better environment for everyone.
