We the people of NDG, Montreal are asking that collectively, the governments of Canada and Quebec, work together towards instituting a Basic Income Pilot Project in the borough of NDG.

The program we envision is one where every resident 18 or over receives $ 26,000.00/yr ($1,000.00 every 2 weeks).  It is our belief and hope that this will move every person in the borough above the poverty line and help them to provide adequate housing, food, basic necessities with a little in excess for emergencies.

Of the 67,475 residents in the area, approximately 25% are currently living under the poverty line. These numbers were generated pre-COVID and as such, we believe the actual figures are greater. We believe that a Basic Income Program is something which governments will be instituting in the years to come and ask that you begin the process in NDG.
