Reduce the congestion charge for cab drivers to £5 a day or £1 each entry
Why this petition matters
Uber drivers and other cab services have been providing excellent service to the industry, ensuring that London is continuously moving, even in the uncertain times of the pandemic.
It is incredibly unfair to charge up to £15.00 each and every day for drivers. In order to make up for this charge, drivers have to work at least 2 hours more each day.
This impacts drivers massively e.g. 5 days a week x 48 weeks (excl holidays) = £3,600 on congestion charge per year.
As you can imagine, this is significantly detrimental to drivers who come from low-income families who are having to pay this incredibly high fee for simply providing an excellent service to Londoners.
I am requesting that the board reconsiders the unfair charges and reduce the congestion charge for Uber cab drivers to £5.00 a day, or £1.00 each entry.
This is a much fairer charge that will allow cab drivers to continue to contribute financially to the economy and provide a seamless service to Londoners in these unprecedented times, where cab drivers are at a great loss as a result of the pandemic.
