El 18 de Febrero el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales, Orlando Jorge Mera, junto a el Viceministro de Areas Protegidas y Biodiversidad, Federico Franco, entre otras ramas gubernamentales, llevo a cabo el desalojo de decenas de hogares en el barrio La Cienega, Cabarete, Republica Dominicana. El proposito de dicho desalojo fue recuperar y proteger areas protegidas de las lagunas de Cabarete de invasion illegal por moradores.

7 hogares que NO estaban adentro del area protegida en Cabarete, fueron desalojados a la fuerza, sus casas destruidas y dejados en la calle.

Con esta petición estamos exigiendo a Orlando Jorge Mera, a Federico Franco, y las autoridades responsables que : Devuelvan y reconstruyan los hogares desalojados injustamente, o que trasladen y reubiquen a estas familias en donde correspondan. 

Es de conocimiento general que los canales establecidos alrededor de las Lagunas de Cabarete por el mismo Ministerio de Medio Ambiente, delimitan lo que es Area Protegida y donde vive la comunidad. Durante los ultimos años, moradores y empresarios se han sobrepasado de los limites y creado chozas de manera ilegal para invadir terreno. 

Pero entre los hogares desalojados hubieron 7 familias que NO estaban adentro del area protegida que fueron desalojados a la fuerza, sus casas destruidas y dejados en la calle. Sin ninguna explicación, sin ninguna opción y sin ningún recurso o ayuda para restablecerse en la sociedad. 

Estas familias están en la calle y no merecen ser abandonados. Ayúdanos con tu firma.

On February 18, the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, Orlando Jorge Mera, together with the Vice Minister of Protected Areas and Biodiversity, Federico Franco, among other government branches, carried out the eviction of dozens of homes in the La Cienega neighborhood, Cabarete, Dominican Republic. The purpose of this eviction was to recover and protect protected areas of the Cabarete lagoons from illegal invasion by residents.

7 homes that were NOT within the protected area in Cabarete, were forcibly evicted, their houses destroyed and left on the street.

With this petition we are demanding that Orlando Jorge Mera, Federico Franco, and the responsible authorities: Return and rebuild unjustly evicted homes, or move and relocate these families where they belong.

It is general knowledge that the channels established around the Cabarete Lagoons by the Ministry of the Environment itself define what is a Protected Area and where the community lives. During the last years, residents and businessmen have exceeded the limits and created huts illegally to invade land.

But among the evicted homes there were 7 families that were NOT within the protected area who were forcibly evicted, their houses destroyed and left on the street. Without any explanation, without any option and without any resources or help to reestablish themselves in society.

These families are on the streets and do not deserve to be abandoned. Help us with your signature.
