Montana is blessed with long hunting seasons and bountiful opportunity. But what good is that opportunity if we don't know what's really out on the landscape? Currently, FWP is using what we feel is an out-dated system to find out hunter success and animal harvest. These random phone calls have not kept up with modern technology, nor do they accurately reflect hunter days and animal harvest on a meaningful scale. 

We would respectfully request that FWP come into the 21st Century, and institute mandatory reporting of harvest of big game animals, in order to better manage our wildlife resource.

DFWP is currently looking at updating their 20 year old Automated Licensing System, a much needed upgrade. Adding mandatory reporting to this website could be an easy, and cost-effective way to provide better data for our biologists and game managers to use in setting seasons, understanding animal distribution and harvest quotas.
