Official Language of Hawaiʻi
Official Language of Hawaiʻi
Why this petition matters
Whereas ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi is an official language of the State of Hawaiʻi, it is hard to tell. There are no accessible Hawaiian Language translations, there are no Hawaiian Language Interpreters and people often frown upon the use of ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi in public spaces.
Let it hereby be known that the people of Hawaiʻi Nei are requesting that the language be taught in all public education institutions, and that all businesses operating in the Hawaiian Islands be required to have at least one fluent ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi Speaker scheduled during all operating business hours.
Furthermore, let it hereby be known that the people of Hawaiʻi request translators of the Hawaiian language be present for all legal processes, to assure accuracy of legislative processes in regards to the Hawaiʻi Statutes. Many laws have not been updated, and a translator is desperately necessary to assist in this capacity.
