The Yelahanka weaving community has over 20,000 weavers. The handloom sector is the second-largest source of employment after the agricultural sector. The weavers had gone on strike because there is advocacy for the power loom over handloom even though the handloom sector is of much higher demand on a global scale.  Power loom lobby has been agitating rather successfully for the Handloom Act to be withdrawn. Meetings and consultations have been held, largely without the inclusion of handloom sector representatives. Even their queries and concerns have gone unanswered. Please help to save an integral part of India's lineage!
