Why this petition matters

Started by yagmur B

The Turkish president Erdoğan has declared to invade Rojava, the north eastern region is syria which homes less than 2 million Kurds. Kurdish people are one of the biggest ethnic minorities in the world. The Turkish president has been torturing kurdish people in unimaginable and disgusting ways; too disturbing to even write. Kurdish people are discriminated for the simple reason that they have a different perspective and live differently from the Turks. They believe in freedom and peace, something the YPG (the kurdish people’s protection unit) and PKK (Kurdish militant) thrive and live by. The biggest problem in this current time is the invasion of Rojava, Turkey claims that kurds are terrorists. What makes a terrorist? People who are fighting for their equality and peace without harming civilians and don’t attack unless being attacked or people who are willing to go to extreme measures to torture, strike fear and target a group of people purely because of their ethnic background? This isn’t a new and emerging problem, Turkey has attacked Kobane, Afrin, Cizre etc and it amazes me how everybody can easily ignore it. The most shocking of all is that Turkish & US fighters have been invited to train in Britain, why is Britain aiding troops that think it is okay to ethnically cleanse 5 million Kurds, Arabs, Armenians, Yazidis and Assyrians. There are innocent civilians being held captive in refugee camps.

The president of Turkey does not see a problem with creating a Kurdish genocide, by being silent and not doing anything to stop this from happening does it imply that we don’t see a problem either?

WHAT WE WANT:

• For Britain to stop aiding and training US and Turkish troops

•The people in refugee camps to receive help and health care.
