The South African local government elections will happen 27 Oct – 1 Nov 2021. We must vaccinate millions before these elections to avoid a catastrophic 4th wave of the Covid pandemic in SA.

We call on leaders of all political parties in SA to agree that the vaccination rollout is off the political agenda. No party will campaign against vaccination. The national interest requires everyone to support mass vaccination. All political parties must demonstrate their responsibility, show they wish to protect all South Africans and that they understand science.

We can’t let the election undermine the national effort to reduce Covid infections. We must not play politics with lives!
