Cancel the Clinical Physiotherapy Competency Exam (PCE) Canada
Cancel the Clinical Physiotherapy Competency Exam (PCE) Canada
Why this petition matters
The purpose of this petition is to advocate for the cancellation of the clinical component of the CAPR's PCE exam.
As pointed out by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association in their official statement, the PCE clinical exam is not the only way to assess competency of Physiotherapists.
Anyone who is eligible to complete this clinical exam has already undergone numerous assessments that prove they are qualified to practice physiotherapy in Canada.
Canadian physiotherapy schools have extremely high standards that are nationally regulated. Internationally educated candidates have had their education approved to meet these standards through rigorous assessment by the CAPR. All candidates have successfully completed the written PCE
The CAPR clinical exam has become an unjust financial, mental, physical, and emotional burden on hundreds of highly skilled physiotherapists.
Other colleges have changed regulation in light of the pandemic and it is time for Canada's physiotherapy colleges to do the same. This petition calls on the provincial regulatory colleges to immediately suspend the requirement of the clinical component of the PCE for full Physiotherapy licensure.
