Governor Cuomo, as part of the agreement to close schools due to COVID-19, has seen it fit to make sure that schools have a day of instruction every week day April 1-14, going on to mean that scheduled spring breaks are cancelled. This is a mental health issue for teachers, students, and parents, with students and teachers needing a break for the safety of their sanity and parents who took off for the days of spring break in question. These parents now won’t have work to do but their kids will. Kids ride on the fact that they’ll get a break, and their ability to do that is failing. It is utterly ridiculous to expect kids to sacrifice days off that they’ve been looking forward to for rest in order to do schoolwork in the midst of the virus. I hope we can get Gov. Cuomo to change his thinking heavily on this, and ensure security for the children of NYS.
