In 2016 we had an all-female reboot of the Ghostbusters film -
Ghostbusters Answer the Call. In 2020 we're getting a third
Ghostbusters film in the original universe, but we think it's time* that
we let Paul Feig and Katie Dippold back at the Helm to make a
second ATC Universe film. The film allowed for representation of a
number of new and previously untapped demographics, and that was fantastic to see; tenfold here in the UK, and it allowed people of
varying genders, backgrounds, heritages, sexualities, and abilities to
feel as seen and as represented as their male counterparts.

(*given that we've had Ghostbusters Day, the 35th Anniversary of Ghostbusters 1984 AND a Ghostbusters Fan Fest, which both Feig and Reitman attended, and were received by THUNDEROUS applause!)

It also helped to legitimise female scientists, female "nerds" (myself included) and that it's okay to be a little bit weird. It was also highly pleasant to see women being women, and not having some huge, and random, catfight, or some heteronormative relationships shoved in our faces, like a lot of films these days; more LGBT representation, please - yes, there's relationships/flirting hinted at (but c'mon now, we ALL KNOW Holtzmann is gay!) but they're not important to the story, the FRIENDSHIP is! And that's what I value above all else: friendship. 

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed GBATC, I want to see the ladies back in action in another film. Personally, as someone who is gay, Asperger's and ADHD, I felt represented and seen by one particular character - Dr Jillian Holtzmann - and when you see someone like yourself on the big screen it speaks to you.

The film was hilarious from start to finish and I believe a second one is needed for more audiences, especially young girls to have beautiful role models and for equal rights in the film industry. (Also, I got called a "superhero" at Cardiff Comic Con in March, and I believe they are, cos they saved the city; also that's the kind of positivity we need)
