Why this petition matters

Started by Gaurav Chauhan

Australia is a multi-cultural society, and no one has the right to disrespect any faith or religion. Daily Telegraph have insulted Hindu Deity (Ganesha) which is utterly disrespectful to the faith of Hindus living in Australia and abroad. There are many ways to depict something but why insult someone’s faith?

is the writer of this article (published on 4th May 2021) and we demand an apology and request media houses to educate their staff about Hindu faith to avoid such things in the future. We also request the Australian Press Council to intervene and set clear guidelines to ban the publishing of Hindu Deity imagery in the wrong way which is insulting to the Hindus around the globe.

Let’s tweet to Daily Telegraph and  (@dailytelegraph,  @ and @AusPressCouncil) to let them know that it’s insensitive and unacceptable to depict any god/goddess in such derogatory manner.

Please sign this petition so this can be forwarded to the local MPs and to also APC (https://www.presscouncil.org.au/
