WE NEED CHAIRS There is usually only one Ballot Marking Device machine dedicated to folks with low vision or physical disabilities that make voting with a pen and paper difficult at each polling site in New York. So ADA folk wait Longer to vote anyway...as per usual.

We’ve seen the pictures, articles and videos. People are waiting in long lines to Vote. My initial idea was that companies that rent out chairs for events have chairs. We need those chairs. We need any chairs. I’m disabled and I would be working the polls this year but I had an operation 3 weeks ago. I can’t stand and I can’t stand it. In any Normal Election Americans with Disabilities stand in lines and we to need to sit down, but we never have enough chairs. I run myself ragged trying get the school to lend us 2 or 3. I'm sure there are folks willing to donate to rent those chairs. Rent per chair can be as low as $1.75. Seemed like a good idea and some places are responding but they want to be paid. Can we raise funds to do it? Is it possible? Do you own a rental place? Can you coordinate such a thing? 

My personal goal is to get 5-10 chairs to my polling location. Make a reachable goal for your district.

• Funds for minimum chair rental
• Specific humans to sign for chairs and look after them so they don't walk away
• Delivery or pick up vehicles and abled bodies

I reached out to 15 rental spots in 5 cities and the person who told me what it won’t work also had great insight into what MIGHT. Churches and civic organizations are closer in proximity and also part of the same community. In this case Tuesday isn’t a big church day so that’s the next step. I’ll need your help with that, where the churches and synagogues are in your district? Can you call them? That is actionable. 

Elections are being held in schools that have chairs, we need those chairs. Custodians can be reluctant to drag them out. We need to contact them and release the chairs. Museums have chairs, same obstacle. We need the chairs they have in storage. Are you in a football field? Whip out the bleachers. The point is voter suppression is real, standing for hours is tantamount to torture for people Especially people with disabilities. If people can wrangle Pizza to the Polls. We can get them chairs. We need chairs. If you know Cher ask her if she can rent out the all the chairs, until that happens, plugging away.
