Why this petition matters

Evidence suggests there is an unconscious bias in place in our education system that unfairly favours the white and wealthy over genuine achievements but it's easy to support leveling the playing field for all students.

UCAS have removed students names from applications but there are two more steps that can be taken:

1. Remove students names from all grading/exams

2. Remove the name of the college of the applicant on UCAS submissions.

Grades and achievements should be the sole criteria for acceptance at any university.

David Harewood and Dr Faiza Shaheen produced an incredible and disturbing report showing the levels of unconscious bias which provide elevated opportunities for wealthier and/or white students, particularly over their black counterparts. You can watch it here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0834rgs

Removing student or college names can help thousands of students receive a chance where socio-economic or racial factors are no longer in play.
