Since covid19 has taken hold of the world and closed everywhere, york council have taken it upon themselves to think they can close bishopthorpe road and make it a one way system except for cyclists. Not to mention the knock on effect this will have for local business and residents of the area who already have their roads as a one way system will more than likely have to go all the way round just to want to get to their home address.

Even though covid19 has been essential travel only Nunnery lane is just like a normal day if not worse. When lockdown is completely lifted that area of the city will have a huge impact on the rest of the city causing gridlocked roads and a increase in idling vehicles which will result in higher pollution levels and a significant decrease in the air quality, which goes against the green parties morals who enforced this one way monstrosity of a idea. This goes against the cleaner air and zero carbon plans. 

Surely if the traffic is free flowing and not stationary this reduces the amount of pollution in the area of the city and keeps the air a pollution low as possible.

In a normal world at this time we would be looking to get ready for the start of the race season and as much as everyone dislikes the traffic chaos it brings imagine how  much worse this traffic will be if bishopthorpe road was to be kept as a one way street
