Why this petition matters

Started by Selene Bland

The Kennel Club have recently updated their website and in doing so have removed the option to “find a dog”. This means that we can no longer research pedigrees or view lineage in one easy step. Although there is the health finder option this only allows you to view sire and dam.

This tool was the most useful part of the mykc website and was essential when planning responsible matings and in the case of stud dog owners, checking for Non Recognised Colours.

Checking pedigrees has now become so complex and time consuming that many may not bother, meaning the possible destruction of the pedigree dog in the breeds where NRC is applicable.

When searching a dog on the health finder you cannot search for your specific breed, meaning that when you type in the name of the dog you may have to search through hundreds of pages of dogs with the same name.

The name recognition has also been removed, meaning that unless you have the dogs exact name you will not be given help to find it.

This change was meant to be progressive, not regressive and means it’s back to the drawing board, pen and paper!

Come on KC, please give us our find a dog tool back!
