Why this petition matters

Started by Tanya Kinnear

The Home Office is trying to deport my 83-year-old grandfather and 73-year-old grandmother to Iran - despite their children, grandchildren and great-grandchild being in the UK.

Our close-knit family family is distraught at the prospect that they may live the rest of their days away from us.

When they applied for the right to remain in the UK on human rights grounds, to watch their grandchildren and great grandchild grow up, as well as to be an emotional support for my cousin, the Home Office declined and said that they must return to Iran. This is now our last appeal at keeping our grandparents with us. Please help me call on them to overturn this heartless decision.

My grandparents bought their home in Edinburgh in 1978 after my grandfather completed a course in Dentistry here. All their family are here and they desperately want to stay with them. Our family is also dependent on them to look after my cousin, a teenager with severe autism who is non verbal and requires constant emotional support from them. It means his mum can continue her work as an NHS nurse. Without them, she may be forced to seek assistance from social services, or even quit her job. Which is what the Home Office suggest they do.

Their final appeal against removal is due on 25 February. Please sign and share this petition to show them that the public feel this is a clear injustice. Losing them would be devastating to us all. #dontseparateus
