We the undersigned are calling on Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue Authority to halt the closure and subsequent sale of Bewdley Fire Station. Further, to do an urgent review of fire service cover provision in order that resources meet the actual need.

The decision to close Bewdley Fire Station was based on flawed data and circumstances have now changed. 

Since 2014 the Fire Service has seen a 34% increase in fire calls in the Wyre Forest area, and a rise of 52% in Bewdley. At the same time, guaranteed night-time fire cover in the two counties is potentially reducing from 10 to 4 engines, with response times rising, and a growing failure to meet existing response time targets. The public are being put at risk by this decision, which impacts not only Bewdley and Wyre Forest, but the whole of the two counties in what is an integrated service.
