Ohio Petition

In Ohio, adult consensual incest (ACI) is legally allowed (provided that one party is not a parental figure to the other party) . but CIAO people (ACI Oriented) people are denied the right to legal marriage even if they have children. As tax-paying citizens of Ohio CIAO people they should be entitled to the same advantages and benefits of marriage that other people have.

Article 1, Section 1& 2 of the Ohio Constitution states
Section 1 Inalienable Rights
All men are, by nature, free and independent, and have certain inalienable rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, acquiring, possessing, and protecting property, and seeking and obtaining happiness and safety.
Section 2: Right to Alter, Reform, or Abolish Government, and Repeal Special Privileges
All political power is inherent in the people. Government is instituted for their equal protection and benefit, and they have the right to alter, reform, or abolish the same, whenever they may deem it necessary; and no special privileges or imunities shall ever be granted, that may not be altered, revoked, or repealed by the General Assembly.

It is unjustified cruelty, humiliation and discrimination for the law to deny CIAO people the right to marry should they wish to do so. They are being denied equal treatment and deprived of equal rights under the law. They are not getting 'equal protection and benefit.'granted by to all men by the Ohio Constitution. They are getting discrimination!
CIAO people are a part of ' all men' and therefore CIAO people, are ' by nature, free and independent, and have certain inalienable rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, acquiring, possessing, and protecting property, and seeking and obtaining happiness and safety.'
They are being the happiness and security of being in a legal marriage with the person they most admire, love and cherish.

Denying CIAO people marriage rights therefore clearly breaches their rights under the Ohio Constitution!
Full Marriage Equality in Ohio will ensure that 'everyone in Ohio has the right to share love, sex, residence, and marriage with any and all consenting adult(s) of their choice, regardless of birth or sexual orientation.' The law needs to be changed to allow CIAO people the right to legally marry.
Just as 'Lawrence' means that adult consensual incest must be decriminalized (Bergelson p 53 Crim Law and Philo (2013) 7:43-59), in those states where it is illegal, so, ipso facto CIAO marriage must be legalized in Ohio.
We humbly request that the Attorney General at his earliest opportunity initiate reform of the relevant statutes to make it possible for CIAO people to marry legally in Ohio.
