The animated series was created by David Kirchner, under the wing of the American animation studio Hanna-Barbera Productions Inc. The premiere took place on Fox Kids in 1991, in the form of a five-part mini-series called “Dark Water”. After a series of animated settings and other minor changes by representatives of Hanna-Barbera, these five episodes were broadcast as the first five episodes of the full-fledged animated series, actually making up the first season. Due to financial difficulties, the series was closed after the third season, without completing the main storyline - the search for the thirteen treasures of the Mayor, for salvation from the dark waters. A team of the main characters: Ren, Ayoz, Tula And Niddler were found only eight.
