Why this petition matters

Started by Rayhan Usmanu

As a Muslim American, I believe that it is only fair to allow our holiday to be considered a National Holiday. The first constitution allows us the freedom to religion. We should be free to celebrate our religion without the interference of school or work. We are only asking for 6 days in the year: 3 for Eid-ul-Fitr and 3 for Eid-ul-Adha. This doesn't only affect me,  but it also affects about 3.5 million other muslim Americans. I believe that if a holiday like Christmas can be given a 2 week break, then why can't eid be given a 3 day break each? Please support this petition to help make eid a national holiday. Not only will it affect us today, but it will also impact our future and further help us in making America the land of freedom and equal opportunity. Let's fight together to make it happen. Please share this around with your muslim and even non-Muslim friends. I hope we can set aside our difference and help each other. In the end, whether muslim or not, Americans should help each other out. We should be united and help one another. Please support the Muslim community and help make Eid a National holiday. I hope Trump or the Next President and congress  will approve quickly. Please don't take years to make a change. As of now, I'm hoping to get Eid to be Nationally recognized. But I also hope for other religious holidays to be recognized as well. All of these cultures are what make America what it is. If we fail to recognize all these religious holidays and cultures, aren't we failing to recognize what America truly is? Let's make a change NOW.
