Stop the Hagy Farm Warehouse!
Stop the Hagy Farm Warehouse!
Why this petition matters
Dear Friends of the Clarks Creek Watershed:
An important development has been brought to the attention of the Board of Directors of the Clarks Creek Watershed Preservation Association (CCWPA).
As we know, the tract known as “the Hagy Farm” (near the new 225 exit ramp off of 22/322; accessed from Hagy Lane on the west and Affection Road from the east) had been rezoned from R-A (residential/agricultural) to C-O (commercial/office) and R-3 high-density residential as part of a plan to build luxury apartments and a village-style development. The C-O zoning is surrounded by R-3 zoning, to Clarks Creek downhill to the north.
PBP will buy the lot if it the zoning is CHANGED from C-O to C-I commercial industrial to suit its plans. PBP’s proposal was submitted to the Middle Paxton Township Board at its April meeting; the proposal then went to the Middle Paxton Township Planning Commission in mid-May, and action was deferred to the Middle Paxton Township Planning Commission’s next meeting, scheduled for June 14.
CCWPA has resolved to oppose this rezoning.
C-I zoning will permit PBP to construct a giant warehouse, that will lead to hundreds of semi-trailer visits each day. The loss of permeable surface in the watershed will likely result in pollution of Clarks Creek from runoff, and there are risks of other negative effects, including increased crime and undesirable activities. Worse, C-I zoning could lead to even more threatening use of this property than a giant warehouse! So it must be stopped, now.
CCWPA will make on official in-person presentation at the June 14 meeting in opposition to PBP’s petition to rezone, following giving notice to Middle Paxton Township of its intent.
We have already reached out to the residents nearby this proposed development, but, since this is a significant threat to the watershed that we have vowed to preserve, we are bringing it to your attention, too.
Thank you!
Clarks Creek Water Preservation Association
