We believe Fakenham should have a swimming pool.  Fakenham is a market town serving many local villages.  In recent years both swimming pools located in the schools have closed.  This has resulted in the nearest public pools being many miles away, with limited public transport these are inaccessible to many local people.  This particularly  affects the health and well-being of the people of Fakenham and the surrounding area.  A LIDO will also help regenerate our town.

We call on Norfolk County Council, North Norfolk District Council and Fakenham Town Council to work together with Active Fakenham to establish a Fakenham Lido by:

1                    Publicly committing to build a swimming pool in Fakenham with a timescale for its development.

2                    Immediately setting up a working party, with all levels of local Government represented, to work with Active Fakenham and the local community to build a Fakenham Lido.

3                    Explore all avenues of funding and develop a business plan within an agreed timescale.
