Freedom's Path Dublin is a win for Georgia and all United States Military Veterans!

Although the number of homeless Veterans has been trending downward, the 2019 Point In Time Count reveals nearly a 14% increase in homeless Veterans in Georgia. What does that mean? On any given night in 2019, there were over 800 homeless Veterans across the state of Georgia. There is still much more work to be done. Let's keep pushing to house every homeless Veteran in Georgia. In order to accomplish this feat, we need your help for Freedom's Path at Dublin to obtain financing from Georgia's Department of Community Affairs (DCA).

​Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) along with HUD-VASH vouchers are the critical pieces needed to provide affordable housing to homeless veterans whom have little to no income. In the state of Georgia and specifically for the City of Dublin, GA DCA holds the keys to both.

In December 2016 The Department of Veterans Affairs contracted 4 acres including two buildings which have since been designated historic by the National Park Service, to Communities For Veterans for redevelopment under the Enhanced Use Lease program. The Freedom's Path Development Team has been working tirelessly since December 2016 to obtain the necessary financing for this Veteran community. Sadly, due to competitive requirements written by Georgia DCA, this much needed Veterans community located on the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center has yet to receive funding. During this time, countless Veterans have left Dublin Treatment Facilities with no where to go. Often times, these Veterans end up living on the streets or incarcerated all across the state of Georgia and beyond!

The time to act is now.

Urge Christopher Nunn, Commissioner at Georgia DCA, to grant 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits under the General Set-Aside and Project Based HUD-VASH Vouchers to Freedom's Path Dublin because our U.S. Military Veterans deserve it!
