The Graue Mill Dam has been part of Salt Creek at York Road for as far back as we can find records.  It allowed Frederick Graue to build his Mill there.  The Mill and the Frederick Graue House are open to the public, restored as close as possible to their historic beginnings.  Without the dam, there will be no water to turn the wheel.  Hard to picture an historic Mill with no water running past it!   This low-flow retention dam retains enough water behind it so that even in the dry months of low water, the native wildlife that depends on Salt Creek to exist retains it's habitat.  There is simply NO good and sensible reason to remove the dam!  Future generations of children deserve to see what the beginnings of our area looked like!
