Started by Walt Hornaday '89

July 29, 2013, University of Texas issued rules barring cowbells, yes cowbells, from DKR Texas Memorial Stadium.  It has been three years and three lost football seasons.  Texas is cattle country with a cattle mascot for its football team- Bevo.  Bevo and loyal Longhorns want the clank of the cowbell.

After 3 years, we are at risk of a class of students who will soon graduate that dont even know what it is to be in a cowbelled stadium. Cowbells go with Longhorns like Burnt Orange goes with leather boots.  Anyone that doesnt like the cowbell, should stay at home where it is nice and peaceful to make room for the real fans.

The ban on cowbells has had such an impact, you cannot even find a cowbell to be bought around the campus.  Businesses cite the stadium ban and fear even putting a cowbell on their store shelf.  This is not Texan!

I have written a letter to Mr Mike Perrin, new Director of Athletics for the University, pointing out this hardship placed on the Longhorn nation, the cowbell ban.  I have asked Mr Perrin to correct this wrong of wrongs, and allow the cowbell to clank in the cathedral of college football, DKR Texas Memorial Stadium.  Texas football wins championships when the cowbells are there.

Bring the cowbell back!  Allow cowbells in our stadium now!!
