Why this petition matters

Hey Everyone!

I know this isn't a major issue that will change the world or anything but it is something that will make not only myself happy, but the fans as well.

If some of you guys aren't aware, Dreamworks Animation had been acquired by Universal Studios in 2016. This means that Universal Studios can use these beloved franchises to create amazing experiences and new ideas for their films as well as theme parks.

So far, Dreamworks meet and greets with characters from films like Kung Fu Panda,  Madagascar, Trolls’, and Shrek are common at the parks as well as a new Kung Fu Panda themed attraction coming summer 2018.

This is also apparent in the merchandise from these particular films.

But do you know what animated franchise hasn't gotten much of anything?

The answer is How to Train Your Dragon.

If you aren't familiar with the HTTYD franchise, here is a bit of a rundown of it... (long speech ahead so skip to the title LONG STORY SHORT if you are already are familiar with HTTYD)

Synopsis: " The franchise follows the adventures of a young Viking named Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, son of Stoick the Vast, leader of the Viking island of Berk. Although initially dismissed as a clumsy and underweight misfit, he soon becomes renowned as a courageous expert in dragons, beginning with Toothless, a member of the rare Night Fury breed as his flying mount and his closest companion. Together with his friends, he manages the village's allied dragon population in defense of his home as leader of a flying corps of dragon riders." - credits to Wikipedia on that one

But why this franchise?

- Well, the How to Train Your Dragon film franchise is a beloved animation marvel that has achieved major critical and box office success, with 2 films achieving higher than 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and earned more than $1,100,000,000 collectively. The franchise has also has earned 2 Academy Award nominations and won multiple Annie Awards, including Best Animated Feature for both films (2010 & 2014). The franchise will continue as a trilogy when the next film How to Train Your Dragon: Hidden World will be released in 2019.

I didn't really mention about the vast amount of books, video games, and Netflix series because I am mainly focused primarily on the film franchise and its influence.

LONG STORY SHORT:

I WANT HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON TO BE RECOGNISED AS THE AMAZING FRANCHISE IT IS.

And here is how we can do it.

by having ...

1. MORE MERCHANDISE FOR THE FILM ( like costumes, plushies of the dragons, pins, Hiccup Viking helmets, the list goes on)

2. Hiccup and Toothless Meet & Greets ( or just a costumed man dressed as Hiccup with a Toothless like standee behind if creating a costume will be too expensive)

and last but not least and the most awesome but also the most ambitious choice...

3. A HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON RIDE / ATTRACTION

( I envision it to be like a mix of Harry Potter Forbidden Journey and Pandora Flights of Passage at Disney's Animal Kingdom )

( My idea synopsis: Guests will fly on a customized dragon of choice prior to boarding and join Hiccup and his friends on a journey through Berk and the world of HTTYD. There, guests would encounter dangerous creatures and fly above the clouds while feeling wind and heat effects as well as other sensory elements that will enhance the attraction even further .)

OVERALL:

I know this sounds like an absolute stretch but I really just want one of my favorite film franchises to get the obvious attention it deserves. The creative possibilities of HTTYD are too amazing to be "swept up under the rug".  I hope that you all can support me with my goal to spread the HTTYD love.  :)
