Why this petition matters

Started by Hannah Del Rey

The case of a black mother of five who found herself intoxicated at a “moms only sleepover” has raised a lot of questions within the last couple of years. The story tells Tamla’s friends (all white) found her body the next morning at 7:30 am from a “drunken fall off the balcony”. Yet, records state the police weren’t called until 8:59 am. The mysterious death of Tamla Horsford caught the eye of the public, but since then, Georgia officials have closed the case, and citied no foul play in her mysterious death.

The original coroner’s death certificate listed Horsford’s death as an accident but the fall caused “multiple blunt force injuries” and “acute ethanol intoxication,” known as alcohol poisoning, which could have caused the fall. Tamla’s family hired another medical examiner who reportedly found multiple abrasions on Horsford’s body. Including a “cut of the wrist”, that her friends claim on the 911 call, could have been “self-inflicted”, even though they are all said to be asleep at the time of her fall.

As the story gets deeper; you see Tamla in the last video recorded of her, smiling, and enjoying herself with friends, while in the background you also see 3 men. 1, of which who called the police.

Friends, as well as the internet believe there are other pieces to this story since it never reached public attention until a report that a court employee was fired for illegally accessing documents related to this case. This same employee also happened to be the boyfriend of the homeowner. The same homeowner who threw the slumber party. The same homeowner of the balcony which Tamla fell from. He was a pretrial services officer, within the Forsyth County at the time. He was later placed on administrative leave for using his position to “access confidential files on a current investigation surrounding a death in which he was a witness.”

Tamla’s case has raised eyebrows, because she was the only woman of color at this party. Not to mention the disturbing history that Forsyth County has with the black community. It was (and the internet believes, still to this day) a popular gathering of white supremacists as recent as 1987.

Im asking that the state of Georgia reopens this case, revisits all in question, and double checks all evidence. Including, but no subjected to the second autopsy report. So many unanswered questions that still make no sense. She will never be able to see her children graduate, get married, or even have kids. This is one of many cases where a beautiful, black woman’s murder is swept under the rug. We will not stand for it any longer. Her family deserves justice!
