"Several days ago, our campus faculty and staff received a communication from the Chancellor's office with updates on the status of the campus budget, recommendations from the Budget Advisory Committee (BAC), and additional information about impending cuts and budget review process. Part of the BAC's recommendations included a suggested recommendation on the elimination of our Athletics program.

We understand this is just a recommendation at this juncture. However, we clearly want Athletics to be here as we believe we bring tremendous value to our university, and along with all those affiliated with and concerned about UCR Athletics, we are committed to ensuring our future is sustainable for years to come." - @ucr_athletics on instagram.

If UCR were to cut it's athletics department, over 90 staff members would be laid off and the school would lose over 300 student athletes! When UCR cut our football team in 1975 due to budgetary issues, it never came back. If we cut our athletics department what does that mean for students in the future and what does that mean for our student athletes now, this is unacceptable! UCR gives up to 9000+ in sports related scholarships and this money is crucial for many peers to be here with us at our University. We can't accept this permanent solution to a temporary problem! Please sign in support of our athletic department!  The decision will be made by the end of the month!
