Tell our state to Provide Direct ARP Funding to Hair Salons and Barber Shops across the state. Our industry is vital to every community we serve! We are the trusted messengers and resource hubs to every person, family and community we serve. We need $200 Million carved out for Hair Salons, Barber Shops and Personal Care Industry state wide.  

The American Rescue Plan (ARP) was passed and the bill was signed by President Biden on March 11, 2021. Our state (Pennsylvania) is slated to receive an estimated $7.3 billion to support state relief from the impact of Covid-19. This includes relief funding for small businesses. We need our Pennsylvania State Governor’s office and Appropriations Committee to provide immediate, direct funding to our Hair Salons and Barber Shops across our state. We are not only vital to our communities, we are major contributors to the economy and our businesses contribute to the success of other businesses throughout the state! 

We need the voices and signatures of every licensed cosmetologist and barber, every beauty professional and all of our clients and friends across Pennsylvania. Sign this petition to let our state and local governments know that we’ve earned the right of direct support. Our businesses are vital to our community and to the economy as we employ an average of 5 people per hair salon and barbershop across the state. We are the 3rd highest licensed profession in the state. We are proven major contributors to our community’s safety and mental wellness.

Our industry and our businesses are just as important as any other small or big business in PA. We provide a safe space physically, emotionally and mentally for all we serve. Our businesses benefit the whole person, the whole family, the whole neighborhood and the economy as a whole.

 At no fault of our own, our PA Hair Salons and Barber Shops are at risk of permanently closing without the direct support of our state and local governments. Our businesses have already been at a disadvantage because we were the first to close and the last to open during the pandemic. The impact of being closed as well as state mandated limited operating guidelines, put constraints and extreme hardships on our businesses resulting in higher over head, many barely able to pay bills, unable to support their families and even some having to close for good. 

Our state government has promised to "Make Our Industry Whole." 

Data from the PA Cares grant applications prove the personal care industry has the 2nd highest need for funding across the state. We need direct funding carved out for our industry. We need real relief and sustainability funding now.  

If other industries can ask for and receive direct funding from our state, so should we. Unlike other industries, our direct service industry in PA did not have the luxury of opening when other direct service businesses did, neither did we have the privilege to operate outside. There was no alternative operating option for us. 

We need your voices and signatures! We need you now!!! Tell PA to directly fund our industry! 

If all businesses matter to our state, our businesses matters too. We need and deserve "Direct Funding" for our Industry.
