Fix the STEM building at Bella Vista HS to let Ms. Tweedy stay
Fix the STEM building at Bella Vista HS to let Ms. Tweedy stay
Why this petition matters
Recently a new STEM building was built at Bella Vista High School and our AP Biology teacher who has been teaching at the school for 15 years, Anne Tweedy, was having breathing problems due to chemicals in the floors of the new building. Due to her complications with the building, she moved classrooms with another teacher. However, the school district strongly believes students cannot learn a science related subject in a building not specifically designed for science so she is being transferred to another school to teach. Several other teachers have also complained about health issues due to the new building and are greatly concerned about the well being of their students, yet the school district has neglected to do anything to solve this issue. It is unfair how Ms. Tweedy is being transferred due to problems with the new hazardous building, as she is one of the best AP teachers at Bella Vista and no matter what classroom she teaches in, she gets all of her students passionate about learning, which has allowed all of us to score so highly on the AP Exam. We are not only trying to keep Ms. Tweedy at Bella Vista, but to also demand that the San Juan School District listens to our concerns that the new building could potentially be harmful to students and staff.
