Styrofoam food containers are not recyclable, carcinogenic and could take up to a million years to decompose.  They clog the landfill and they degrade any good food put into them.  New York City has officially banned them and it is time that those of us on the other side of the Peace Bridge take up the cause and get them out of our landfills, out of our tummies and stop poisoning both.  Recyclable containers readily are available and add just pennies to the cost of a meal so there is no good reason to not take this bold step.  We put our food and our kid's food in this junk, all the while boasting that we are eating more  healthy -this is cognitive dissonance.  How to make it happen?  Just like us old hippies made any change-be aware, be insistent and be demanding-and then use whatever other peaceful and reasonable means available to make it happen. If we don't demand, it isn't going to happen. Go into any food establishment that uses styrofoam, place an order and then insist  the food be placed in healthy in order to complete the order.  It won't take too long to make this little change, will it?
