Please note:

I am not hating on Sakurai and Nintendo. I just want this character to be in Smash as a fighter.

I am actually very greatful for what Sakurai has given to the character. I'm glad he has a Mii Costume, but the way they showed off the Assist Trophy... It left a sour taste in my mouth... I just couldn't let it end like this... I just really want Skull Kid to be a fighter in Smash and I'll support him until the very end! For now... This is just the beginning.

"Assist Trophies deconfirm characters":

No, they don't. They may lower the chances of a character making it in to the DLC roster, but they don't fully deconfirm them and here's why. I think Assist Trophies deconfirming characters is just a fan rule. Some Assist Trophies or Pokemon cannot be summoned on certain stages (eg. The Moon on Great Bay, Palkia on Spear Pillar). This shows that if some Assist Trophies are promoted they can be "disabled". think if we gain as many supporters as we had during the speculation season of Smash Ultimate or maybe even more than that amount of supporters we can truly make a difference and make Skull Kid a playable character in Smash Bros Ultimate DLC. 

Second wave of DLC: Now that Sakurai and his team have announced that more DLC fighter's are on the way, SkullKid has a shot of getting in to Smash again! Let's campaign for him, push for him as hard as possible and be vocal in order to try and get him in Smash! Unless the entire second pass is 3rd party, we won't know until we try!
